Hepatocyte

Transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a portion of the cytoplasm of a hepatocyte.

The large number of glycogen granules tend to aggregate in rosettes. These are usually close to smooth endoplasmic reticulum which contains the final enzyme (glucose-6-phosphatase) necessary to release glucose into the bloodstream.
